Rabat – Thami Bennani’s mother expressed her disappointment over the course of the investigation into her son’s disappearance and murder. In a pre-trial statement, the mother condemned the lack of information and details about her son’s disappearance and murder case.
” I have not been able to see my son, neither his belongings, not his grave, not his body,” she said desperately.
Thami Bennani’s case dates back to 2007, when he left his home with a group of friends in a car in Mohammedia. At the time, the victim was 17 years old.
On Wednesday night, a court sentenced two defendants to 20 years in prison who were found guilty over Thami’s murder.
The victim’s lawyers said they aren’t satisfied with the verdict and are seeking to appeal the verdict.
In a post-verdict statement, Bennani’s mother expressed gratitude for the support she received from Moroccans across the world.
“Thank you for not giving up on me,” she said, stressing that she has no comment on the verdict.
Bennani’s mother, however, stressed that the verdict at least brought those responsible to justice.
Converging reports stressed that one of the suspects involved in the case has left Morocco to live abroad.
Today’s verdict comes a few days after a public prosecutor’s office confirmed that Bennani was murdered.
The confirmation also revealed that Bennani’s body was found, with his head decapitated.
Bennani’s body was also covered with bruises and traces of violence he was subjected to during the violent crime.
Since his disappearance, Bennani’s mother had been looking for the missing puzzle pieces in her son’s disappearance, especially when she was initially told that her son died due to an overdose at the time of his disappearance.
With no other leads in the case, the mother has been helping in the investigation in an attempt to understand what happened to her son. She has also been denouncing the lack of any details regarding her son’s body.
