Rabat – Spanish airline Binter inaugurated on Saturday its new direct flight linking Morocco’s Essaouira with Las Palmas.
The company said the new flights come as part of its strategy to improve its air networks, linking Morocco’s “city of winds” with the rest of the world.
“We are very happy to inaugurate the first direct flight between Essaouira and the Canary Islands,” regional delegate for tourism in Essaouira Younes Dabibagh said.
He added that the new flight confirms the importance of Spanish customers who visit the windy city.
For Dabibagh, the Spanish market “represents an important source for customers in terms of the volume of activity for the tourism sector in Essaouira.”
During the first five months of 2023, overnight stays of tourists from Spain recorded an increase of over 45% compared to 2019.
Redouane Khan, the head of Essaouira Regional Tourism Council also expressed satisfaction with the opening of the new flight, stressing that it is the result of efforts made by the National Tourism Office and the regional council and local authorities.
Expressing satisfaction with the “exceptional performance of Essaouira in terms of tourism,” Khan said that the number exceeded the figures of 2019.
He also expressed his confidence that the tourism sector will maintain this dynamic thanks to efforts from all stakeholders contributing to the improvement of the sector in Morocco.
