Rabat – Wydad Casablanca and Raja Club Athletic, two prominent Moroccan football clubs, have been acknowledged by FIFA for their contributions to the success of the Qatar World Cup. A FIFA statement released today indicates that Wydad Casablanca has received a total of $1,405,305, while Raja obtained $31,938 in prize money. The funds were allocated by FIFA to clubs in recognition of their players’ participation in the prestigious international tournament.

Wydad Casablanca’s representation in the World Cup included three of its notable players — Ahmed Reda Tagnaouti, Yahya Jabrane, and Yahya AttiaAllah — who participated in the global tournament as part of the Moroccan national team. Additionally, Achraf Dari, who had previously been associated with Wydad Casablanca but transferred to French club Brest last summer, also contributed to Moroccan club’s involvement in the tournament,

Raja’s share of the prize money, on the other hand, was primarily attributed to the participation of Badr Benoun. Although he had left the team to join Al Ahly in November 2020, Benoun’s involvement with Raja merited the club’s inclusion in FIFA’s distribution of funds.

In a press release, FIFA elucidated the methodology it employed in distributing the prize money among clubs. The governing body of football disclosed that the total available amount of $209 million was divided by the cumulative number of days all participating players spent at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, which was approximately 19,080. As a result,

As a result, an average sum of $10,950 per player per day was determined by FIFA as the distribution ratio.

FIFA’s honoring  of Wydad Casablanca and Raja in recognition of their player’s contributions to the success of the 2022 World Cup “is a statement to the impact and commitment displayed by these clubs in nurturing talented players who not excel at the domestic but also significantly to their national teams,” concluded the press release.
