Rabat – Due to the strike notice given by ground employees at Italian airports, Royal Air Maroc (RAM) has announced the cancellation of a number of its flights to and from Italy scheduled for Saturday, July 15.
“Royal Air Maroc informs you of the national strike notice relayed by all the representative unions of personnel handling in Italy on July 15, 2023, a movement which has met with strong support from all personnel handling,” Royal Air Maroc on its website.
“As a result, RAM is canceling flights AT946, AT947, AT954, and AT955 scheduled on July 15, 2023,” the airline added.
To compensate for this dysfunction and limit the impact of the cancellations, RAM will transfer passengers from the canceled flights to those bound for the same destinations on July 15, 16, and 17.
The airline said it will send emails and SMS messages to customers whose contacts are available to confirm their rescheduled flights and invite them to check their flight status.
RAM also reminded the passengers whose flights were canceled and who do not want to take the alternate flights that they may receive a refund for their tickets or a free date change.
The company also gave its customers the option of changing their itinerary to and from the same destination or selecting another destination in Europe on the RAM network, providing that any additional taxes incurred as a result of a destination change will remain the responsibility of the traveler.
The news comes amid ongoing criticism of Morocco’s national carrier. Videos went viral on social media of hysterical Moroccan passengers at Mohammed V airport over the RAM company misplacing their luggage.
While Skytrax recently named RAM as one of the best airlines in Africa, these passengers’ complaints about the company’s poor services showed a different perspective due to delays, confusion, and misplaced luggage.
