Rabat – Leoni, a German company specializing in energy and data management solutions for the automotive industry, has announced plans to expand its production capacities in Morocco.

According to a statement from Leoni last week, the company will establish an additional plant in Agadir, dedicated to manufacturing wiring systems for the Commercial Vehicles (CV) segment.

The move aims to support the company’s growth prospects and meet the increasing demand in this sector. The plant is expected to create 3,000 new job opportunities.

The new factory comes weeks after the company signed agreements with a delegation led by the Head of the Moroccan Government, Aziz Akhannouch, to initiate several investment projects.

The signing ceremony, presided over by Aziz Akhannouch, took place in Agadir, where two memoranda of understanding and a framework agreement were formalized.

The investment projects are projected to bolster Morocco’s industrial landscape and generate over 7,000 new jobs by 2027.

The upcoming wiring systems plant, located in the Agadir industrial acceleration zone, will play a significant role in this growth.

It will offer employment opportunities in administration, engineering, and production, with an estimated 3,000 positions dedicated to supporting the Commercial Vehicles segment.

Ingo Spengler, COO and Member of the Executive Board of Leoni, expressed his satisfaction with the agreement. “I am very pleased about the agreement between our company and the Moroccan government,” he said.

As part of the agreement, “Leoni will seize the opportunity to expand its footprint in the country, which provides favorable conditions in terms of the availability of skilled workers, competitiveness, and logistics,” Spengler explained. In return, he added, Morocco “is developing its industrial sector, which serves as the main pillar of the national economy.”

The new plant will focus on manufacturing wiring systems tailored for the growing Commercial Vehicles segment, a strategic area of growth for Leoni’s Wiring Systems Division.
