Rabat – In a world where travel expenses can quickly add up, Chefchaouen Medina has emerged as a top free tourist attraction, promising an extraordinary experience for free.

Chefchaouen Medina has earned its place as the second-best free tourist attraction in Africa, a recent survey by Casago revealed.

With an impressive 76.40% of five-star ratings, Chefchaouen Medina stood out as a top contender, surpassed only by Lion’s Head in Cape Town, South Africa.

The survey featured the highest-rated free-entry tourist attractions, basing its rankings on the proportion of five-star TripAdvisor reviews.

Nestled in the Rif Mountains of northern Morocco, Chefchaouen has captured the hearts of travelers from around the world with its mesmerizing blue-hued streets and rich cultural heritage.

The report highlighted the Moroccan city’s beauty, with “its streets lined with pretty blue houses, a sight deemed a ‘photographer’s dream’ by one reviewer.”

In 2022, American magazine Architectural Digest featured Chefchaouen among the world’s 20 most colorful places

However, it’s not just the picturesque scenery that makes Chefchaouen Medina an exceptional destination. The medina’s rich history and culture also play a significant role in its appeal.

It is a place where tradition meets modernity, where tourists can have the opportunity to wander through ancient streets while discovering delicious Moroccan cuisine in local restaurants.

Besides Chefchaouen, known as “The Blue Pearl of Morocco,” the ranking featured two other Moroccan travel destinations.

Ksar of Ait Ben Haddou in Ouarzazate ranked sixth in Africa, with a rating of 67.74%, while the medina of Fez secured the ninth spot with a 62.09% rating.
