Rabat –  Enaam Mayara, the President of the Moroccan House of Councillors and head of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM), is set to travel to Israel on September 7 for a diplomatic visit.

The visit, which comes at the invitation of the Speaker of the Israeli Knesset, Amir Ohana, underlines the collective commitment to deepen ties at the parliamentary level, building upon the trilateral agreement signed between Morocco, the US, and Israel in December 2020, indicated a press release.

The visit will coincide with the presence of a delegation from the PAM, aiming to “explore avenues and methods for strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two legislative bodies and to examine a spectrum of subjects and matters of shared concern.”

The statement indicated that Mayara’s visit to Israel reflects the North African country’s dedication to fostering peace in the Middle East and its commitment to the Palestinian cause.

It will be an opportunity for Mayara to emphasize Morocco’s unwavering support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital, as well as the preservation of the Holy City of Al-Quds and the Islamic identity of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

He will also underline Morocco’s clear determination to build upon the country’s influential role in favor of the Palestinian cause, under the leadership of King Mohammed VI.

In addition, the Moroccan delegation will emphasize the importance of dialogue and negotiations between the Palestinian and Israeli sides as the only viable path toward achieving security and stability in the region.

Mayara will also hold meetings with officials from the United Nations, and discussions with parliamentary and government officials in Amman, Ramallah, and Al-Quds.

Mayara’s visit to Israel will be part of a series of official visits he will undertake to Jordan and the Middle East region between September 1 and 8.

Accompanied by a parliamentary delegation, he will visit Jordan between September 1 and 4, following an invitation from the President of the Jordanian Senate Faysal Akef Al Fayez.

The primary objectives of this diplomatic venture are to enhance joint parliamentary action between the Moroccan House of Councillors and the Jordanian Senate, bolster bilateral cooperation across various sectors, and strengthen coordination in international forums to serve the common interests of the countries.
