Rabat – A foreign national hailing from a sub-Saharan African country has been apprehended by the Rabat Judicial Police on suspicion of involvement in a heinous crime. The arrest was made following precise information provided by the General Directorate for Surveillance of the National Territory (DGST), Moroccan state media reported today.
The suspect, who was residing in Morocco in an illegal capacity, is believed to have played a role in a case of premeditated murder followed by theft, with both the victim and the accused being from sub-Saharan Africa. According to a press release from the General Directorate of National Security, the investigation was initiated by the judicial police services in the city of Dakhla on Friday, August 25, after the discovery of a lifeless body inside a residence in the “Ghufran” neighborhood.
The victim, a foreign citizen who had been living in Morocco without legal authorization, displayed evident signs of physical assault inflicted by a sharp object.

The diligent efforts of law enforcement agents led to the identification of the suspect and his subsequent arrest in the capital city of Rabat. The ongoing investigation has unveiled initial leads suggesting that the tragic incident originated from a dispute over the rental of a room. This dispute tragically escalated into a premeditated act of murder, accompanied by the theft of the victim’s mobile phone and a sum of money.
The arrested foreign national is currently under “garde à vue” custody, a legal provision in Morocco that permits the detainment of a suspect for a limited period under the supervision of the competent Public Prosecutor’s Office. This measure allows authorities to delve into the intricate details of the case, unraveling the intricate web of motives and circumstances surrounding the crime.
