Rabat – Moroccan football Sofiane Benjdidais reportedly on the cusp of a move to Belgian club Standard de Liège, according to a report by Belgian newspaper Le Soir. The 21-year-old striker, currently under contract with Raja Casablanca until June 2024, is said to be making preparations to join the ranks of the Belgian club.
The young striker is poised to take his career to the next level with the prospective transfer. It is believed that Benjdida will soon undergo a series of rigorous physical and medical assessments in Liège before formally sealing a four-year deal — negotiations for which have been underway for some time.
Sources close to the matter have revealed that Marc Wilmots, the head coach of Standard de Liège, personally selected Bendjdida as a prime addition to the squad.
The move will also see the Moroccan forward initially making his mark with Standard de Liège’s second professional team, the Standard de Liège 16 FC. This strategic decision is aimed at allowing Bendjdida to seamlessly integrate into the club’s playing style and adapt to the demands of European football.
