Rabat – Niger State, located in north-central Nigeria, has expressed its willingness to collaborate and cooperate with Morocco in the agricultural sector to improve productivity, promote sustainable methods, and strengthen food security, Voice of Nigeria reported on Friday.
During a meeting in Nigeria’s capital Abuja with Moroccan Ambassador to Nigeria Moha Ou Ali Tagma, Niger’s State Governor Muhammed Umar Bago said that cooperation in these sectors can increase agricultural productivity.
Quoting the Niger State Governor’s spokesman Bologi Ibrahim, the media outlet stressed that the visit was vital, given that Morocco has provided the State government with advancements in technology and agricultural methods.
According to Bago, the alliance is also beneficial in the areas of education and health because it fosters educational and cultural programs, as well as the exchange of expertise in the provision of medical care, medical education, and disease prevention.
The partnership also covers energy and rail transport to hasten the state’s growth and development, the publication reported.
The governor should make an official visit to Morocco, according to Ou Ali Tagma. This would allow the governor to get firsthand information about how the country’s various economic sectors are faring.
Morocco and Nigeria have strong ties and cooperation on various fronts, including agriculture and energy.
Among the most notable projects between the two countries is the Morocco-Nigeria Gas Pipeline, which will transport natural gas through the West African coast, providing energy for 400 million people in 13 countries
