Rabat – Moroccan international footballer Abdessamad Ezzalzouli has reportedly convinced FC Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernandez regarding his staying at the Catalan club.
Spanish sports outlet Mundo Deportivo reported today that Xavi cannot risk losing another valuable team member following Dembele, who seems set to leave the Camp Nou for Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
The Spanish news outlet also cited Ezzalzouli’s performances with Osasuna last season, where he became a “fundamental” player while on loan.
The player’s stellar performances with Morocco’s U23 football team during the U23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) have also reportedly played a role in Xavi’s opinion.
“His performances have helped him attract the interest of many teams from LaLiga, the Premier League and the Bundesliga, but Barca would only consider his exit if an irresistible offer for Abde arrived,” the news outlet added.
Spanish outlets are now anticipating an announcement from Xavi regarding Ezzalzouli’s stay with the club.
Last week, he made international headlines for his eye-catching performance with Barcelona during their friendly against Arsenal.
While the Blaugrana lost the game 3-5 to the Premier league opponent, Ezzalzouli’s performance caught the attention of many.
Mundo Deportivo emphatically warned Xavi against letting the player go given his recent uptick in form.
“Despite the unfavorable result, Barca can take positive notes from the match, one of them being the great performance of Ez Abde,” the news outlet said.
Xavi has repeatedly stressed Ezzalzouli’s improvement throughout his time with Osasuna.
“He has matured a lot we’re happy about the loan to Osasuna, he has gone to a very good team to progress in his career, mature and work,” Xavi said in an interview in May, emphasizing that he sees Abde as a talent that can succeed at Barca “but it depends on his mentality.”
