The Atlas Lionesses are full of emotions and passion following their historic win, which enabled them to secure a ticket to the round of 16 at the women’s World Cup.
Following their well-deserved and eye-catching win against Colombia, the Atlas Lionesses spoke of the unbelievable feeling of recovering from a heavy defeat in their first group game to make it out a group stage.
“Impossible is not Moroccan,” they said, stressing their determination to defy the odds at the global tournament and continue making Moroccans proud and happy.
Moroccan football stat Nouhaila Benzina, who also made history for being the first footballer to appear with a hijab on a World Cup football pitch, stressed that today’s win and qualification is what all the Atlas Lionesses dreamt of.
“There is nothing impossible in football,” she said, noting that all football players shared the same goal and objective.
“We were able to make everyone happy,” she said, expressing determination that the best is yet to come.
Anissa Lahmari, who awarded Morocco the winning goal, also expressed satisfaction with the win.

Commenting on being named the best player of the game, Lahmairi said it was a collective triumph based on hard work and team spirit from all members of the squad.
Ibtissam Jraidi, who also made Morocans proud after her goal against South Korea, stressed that the “great victory” came after hard work and preparation for the matches. “Morocco forever,” she said.
The rest of Atlas Lionesses stressed the importance of the game, unanimously dedicating the victory and qualification to King Mohammed VI and all Moroccans who supported them throughout their appearances.
Goalkeeper Khadika Er-Rmishi said that the win was the fruit of preparation and high team spirit.
“Thank you everyone for your support. We dedicate this win to the King, we love him and we all wish that he is in good health,” she said.
Also commenting on the significance of today’s win and qualification, Rosella Ayanne stressed that Morocco “made another piece of history. I am not gonna get bored of saying this. I said it last year during WAFCON and I said it during the game against Korea… We made history.”
