Rabat – Moroccan football star Rosella Ayane shared an emotional note on Morocco’s Women World Cup run, hoping that the team’s journey inspired young girls.

The Atlas Lioness took to her Instagram account to express her pride for wearing Morocco’s jersey as well as for being able to help make history for women’s football in Morocco.

“But ultimately I hope we inspired young girls around the world but especially in Morocco,” Ayane wrote.

Ayane also celebrated Morocco’s fans, thanking everyone for their support.

” Dima Maghreb [Morocco],” the Tottenham Hotspur player added.

The Atlas Lionesses returned home on Thursday following their historic run at the Women’s World Cup.

In their debut at the global tournament, the Moroccan team managed to pull off a major upset and reach the knockout phases at the expense of heavyweights Germany.

Upon their arrival on Thursday, a delegation from Morocco’s Football Federation (FRMF), including chairman Fouzi Lekjaa gave a warm welcome to the Atlas Lionesses.

Crowds of fans also lined up outside the airport to welcome the team back.

Lekjaa also delivered an address at the welcoming reception, during which he promised to elevate and develop women’s football to unprecedented heights.

“Following a few days of rest, we will work on programs to continue the advancement of women’s football,” he pledged. “This will involve a comprehensive transformation in the training of younger age groups, specifically those under the age of 15, 16, and 17.”
