Rabat – A unit of the Moroccan Royal Navy intercepted an inflatable boat in distress, approximately a hundred kilometers north of the western Moroccan town of Tarfaya on Thursday. The successful rescue mission, carried out as part of a dedicated sea assistance and rescue endeavor, saved the lives of 67 individuals, including a woman and three minors, according to official military sources.
The distressed inflatable boat, crammed with migrants seeking a better life, was maneuvered to safety by the Royal Navy unit. The vessel was identified to be carrying candidates of sub-Saharan origin, all driven by the challenging pursuit of irregular migration.
Upon being brought aboard the Royal Navy unit, the rescued individuals received immediate medical attention and first aid, ensuring their physical well-being after the perilous journey across treacherous waters. The navy personnel displayed exceptional professionalism and compassion in the face of the humanitarian crisis, showcasing their commitment to saving lives at sea.
