Rabat – Moroccan winger Abdessamad Ezzalzouli has asked FC Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernandez for more playing time, according to Spanish sports outlet Mundo Deportivo.
Sought after by a number of European clubs, including Aston Villa and Bayer Leverkusen, Barcelona’s Moroccan international reportedly intends to spend as much time as possible with the Catalan club before moving on.
According to the same source, Ezzalzouli considers his playing time necessary to maintain his competitiveness in anticipation of a future move, but also to be ready for the national team’s next outings in September.
Reports have recently indicated that the Blaugrana are looking to retain Ezzalzouli’s services, with Xavi being satisfied with his performances, which he has shown in the pre-season and first two games of La Liga.
However, the club may have to let the Moroccan go in order to raise funds to acquire more players, considering their precarious financial condition.
Additionally, according to reports, Barcelona wants Ansu Fati to leave as well, but the player is still bound by his contract and is rumored to have refused to leave this season.
It could be impossible to keep both players on the team, according to a previous report from the website Sport.
