Rabat – A fire broke out on Thursday evening in buildings selling household furniture, leather goods, and wood products in the Foundouk known as Bachkou, on FAR Avenue in Casablanca, according to local authorities.
Local and security authorities as well as the civil protection services rushed to the scene as soon as they were informed to take the necessary measures to extinguish the fires, said the same source.
They also reported that all possible means and equipment had been mobilized to contain the fires and prevent them from spreading to the surrounding area.
In a preliminary assessment, local authorities reported material damage at 11 of the 26 premises. At press time, no human injuries or losses were reported.
Security authorities have opened an investigation, under the supervision of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, to shed light on the circumstances of the incident.
Such incidents have been very frequent in Casablanca in recent years. In September 2020, a storage facility in Sidi Bernoussi’s industrial area was severely damaged by a fire, which was shortly confined by civil protection services.
