Rabat – Morocco’s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research signed on Tuesday a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mide-Or, a subsidiary of the Italian company Leonardo Group which specializes in aerospace, defense, and security.
Under the agreement, Moroccan students will have the opportunity to benefit from training programs offered by Leonardo Group subsidiaries, said the ministry in a statement, noting that it will help students improve their skills and enrich their professional experiences.
The MoU, which aims to establish a collaborative framework in several crucial areas, is part of Morocco’s National Plan for Accelerating the Transformation of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation.
The signing ceremony saw the presence of the Moroccan Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Abdellatif Miraoui and Mide-Or President Marco Minniti, as well as Italian Ambassador to Morocco Armando Barucco.
The MoU includes the development of scholarship programs for Moroccan students and researchers, particularly in modern technology-related fields such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), robotics, coding, and the Internet of Things.
In addition, the agreement seeks to enhance collaboration between Moroccan and Italian universities through sharing experience and expertise, and jointly organizing scientific conferences and seminars.

Speaking at the event, Miraoui highlighted the strong relations between Morocco and Italy, stressing that the signing of the MoU “represents an additional building block to further advance the outstanding cooperation between our countries, which will soon celebrate two centuries of bilateral diplomatic relations.”
Miraoui also underlined the promising prospects of the action plan that Morocco and Italy established in July.
He emphasized that this partnership will provide a solid foundation for developing collaborative relations in various fields, including higher education and research.
Meanwhile, Minitti said that the signing of the agreement reflects the strategic role that Morocco plays in the region, noting that “education, culture, and higher education constitute a decisive tool for developing dialogue and international cooperation.”
“Therefore, this memorandum enhances our efforts, which we consider of utmost importance, aiming to establish a promising future for young generations,” he concluded.
