Rabat – Saudi Club Al-Fayha announced on Thursday the signing of Moroccan midfielder Abdelhamid Sabiri on a one-season loan deal from Italian club Fiorentina, with an option to make the transfer permanent.
The official signing ceremony was held at the club’s headquarters, with the presence of Al-Fayha Chairman Tawfiq bin Saleh Al Madiham. The signing took place after Sabiri passed medical examinations in Dubai on Wednesday.
The Saudi club highlighted the Atlas Lion as a versatile midfielder with an impressive professional career that has taken him across various top European leagues.
Some of his notable stints include playing for Huddersfield Town in the English Premier League, Nurnberg in the German Bundesliga, and several Italian clubs, including Ascoli, Sampdoria, and Fiorentina.
“His international representation for his home country was highlighted during the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, where Morocco achieved a historic fourth-place finish,” added the statement.
The Moroccan footballer’s experience and skill set make him a valuable addition to the Al-Fayha squad as they prepare for the upcoming season.

However, his decision to join the Saudi club has left many of his fans disappointed, especially considering his relatively young age. Some have voiced their concerns, suggesting that the 26-year-old player may have made a wrong move in his career path.
“You wasted your talent, brother. You destroyed it yourself. Think carefully and return to Europe next year inchallah,” a fan commented under Sabiri’s post announcing his move to Al Faiha.
Other fans said they had high expectations for Sabiri in the European football scene, given his previous experiences with clubs in top European leagues.
