Rabat – In partnership with the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT), the low cost airline EasyJet will be adding 94,346 extra seats into three Moroccan destinations, namely Rabat, Marrakech, and Agadir, for the 2023-24 winter season, according to converging reports.
This initiative will enable the airline to reach nearly one million annual seats operated to Morocco.
Additionally, this record-breaking agreement includes the launch of several direct routes linking several European cities to the three major Moroccan destinations.
Thus, Rabat will be linked to five European cities: Paris, Geneva, Lyon, Nantes, and Nice, while Marrakech will be linked to Bristol and Porto.
For its part, Agadir will benefit from a new route connecting it with Porto, and will take over the route to Paris.
“This record-breaking agreement with one of Europe’s leading airlines reinforces our strategy of raising the profile of our destination worldwide,” said Adel El Fakir, Managing Director of the ONMT, emphasizing that “other agreements are also underway with other airlines.”
The easyJet-ONMT agreement is part of the Moroccan Office’s 2023-26 action plan called “Light in action,” which aims to place the North African country among the top ten travel destinations in the world.
At the turn of 2023, both the partners signed a five-year partnership agreement in London. The agreement started this summer and is expected to end in winter 2027-28.
By the start of 2028, the British carrier will have increased the number of seats to Morocco to 1.6 million as per the deal.
EasyJet, which is Europe’s second largest airline in terms of annual passengers capacity, is a long-standing partner of the ONMT.
With close to a million annual seats operated to Morocco, Easyjet is today the fifth airline in terms of international capacity to the Kingdom.
