Rabat – The players and technical staff of Morocco’s national football team will donate all their match bonuses to the relief efforts for the recent devastating earthquake that hit Morocco, head coach Walid Regragui announced on his Instagram account.

“We share your pain, and we stand by you,” Regragui’s Instagram story read on Tuesday in four languages. “The players and technical staff of the National Team will donate all their match bonuses until the African Cup.”

“Our hearts are with all the victims,” he added. “We promise you more humanitarian initiatives. Our Morocco unites us.”

Morocco’s national team is set to play a friendly game against Burkina Faso today in the French city of Lens. All ticket revenues will go to the relief efforts in the affected regions.

The players also turned up to participate in the blood donation campaign on Saturday, at one of Agadir’s blood donation centers.

Meanwhile, the squad’s AFCON qualifier against Liberia, which was set to take place on Saturday, has been delayed until further notice in light of the disaster.

On Friday night, a 6.8 magnitude earthquake hit several regions in Morocco, leaving over 2,900 dead so far, in addition to over 5,000 injured individuals.

The death toll is expected to rise as rescue efforts continue, and especially as they reach more severely affected regions.
