Marrakech – The Japanese government has announced a significant humanitarian aid package of $3 million to assist the people affected by the recent devastating earthquake in Morocco.

The Japanese government has announced a significant humanitarian aid package of $3 million to help the people affected by the recent devastating earthquake in Morocco, stressing that this gesture of support is part of Japan’s commitment to international humanitarian efforts in times of crisis.

The earthquake, which struck Morocco late last Friday, has already claimed nearly 3,000 lives and left at least 5,500 individuals injured. The disaster has prompted a global response, with countries and agencies from around the world coming together to provide relief and assistance to those affected.

Among the first to respond was Australia, with the country pledging $1 million in aid to assist earthquake victims.

Similarly, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) announced an initial contribution of $1 million towards relief efforts while expressing its unwavering commitment to aiding Morocco’s recovery.

Morocco’s response to the crisis has been swift and decisive. The nation’s armed forces, security services, auxiliary forces, and civil protection teams have all been mobilized to accelerate rescue operations. Their efforts are being complemented by the assistance of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and international rescue teams hailing from countries such as Spain, the United Kingdom, and Qatar.

In announcing its contribution to support Morocco’s relief efforts, the Japanese government stressed Japan’s deep commitment to international solidarity in times of disaster.

These funds are expected to help provide vital assistance to those in need, including shelter, food, medical care, and other essential services.

Japan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Aiko Tanaka, expressed heartfelt condolences to the people of Morocco and underscored his country’s commitment to assisting in the recovery efforts. She stated, “Our thoughts are with the people of Morocco during this challenging time. Japan is committed to supporting our friends in Morocco in their hour of need. We hope that this aid will help alleviate some of the suffering caused by this tragic event.”

This outpouring of international support demonstrates the global community’s unity in the face of adversity and highlights the importance of collective efforts to help those affected by natural disasters. As rescue and relief efforts continue in Morocco, the world watches with hope for a swift recovery for the nation and its people.
