Rabat – President of the Spanish Football Federation Pedro Rocha said on Saturday that no decision has been made regarding the country that will host the final game of the 2030 World Cup.
Rocha’s remarks came as both Spain and Morocco are competing to host the final game of the tournament.
Earlier this month, FIFA announced Morocco, Spain, and Portugal as the official hosts of the 2030 World Cup.
The FIFA Executive Committee unanimously selected the joint Morocco-Spain-Portugal bid on October 4 as it was the only bid in the running to host the global competition.
The bid committee has been holding a series of meetings in preparation for the finalization of their bid and the agenda of the competition.
Several reports have been sharing speculation on which country will host the final.
Rocha, however, stressed that no decision has been made on the matter.
“The organization of the World Cup concerns the three host countries; there is an agenda and dates that will need to be considered, and when the decision is made, everyone will know,” Rocha continued.
Fouzi Lekjaa, the head of Morocco’s Football Federation (FRMF), echoed the same remarks, stressing that the bid committee will communicate all details with regard to the project when it is settled.
“We have until the end of June to finalize the project. On the day when everything is settled regarding the matches, from the kickoff to the final, we will communicate the configuration of the bid which we will present together,” Lekjaa said.
Saturday marked the signing of a letter of intentions for the hosting of the 2030 World Cup between the Spanish, Moroccan, and Portuguese football federations.
All three federation presidents emphasized that the competition will be exceptional and historic, highlighting that it would connect and bring together two different continents as well as three different countries’ cultures.
