Rabat – Death toll in Palestine continues to climb as Israel’s bombs hammer the Gaza Strip. Latest data from the Palestinian health ministry shows that 950 were killed and over 5,000 injured amid the ongoing air raids.
Meanwhile, 1,200 Israelis have died since Saturday, while 3,000 have sustained injuries. Israel tightened its 2007-imposed blockade on the Gaza Strip, cutting off critical supply, worsening the already dire humanitarian crisis.
Wednesday marks the fifth day since Hamas launched Operation Al Aqsa Flood in response to Israel’s mounting aggressions on the Aqsa mosque in recent months.
Following the Hamas surprise attack on Saturday, Israel launched a retaliatory operation, with fighter jets striking more than 200 targets overnight in a neighborhood of the Gaza Strip.
The country has opted for radical measures to punish Hamas, including cutting off water and fuel to the residents of Gaza.
The United Nations agency in Gaza said it has a limited stock of food and water that can sustain the 180,000 plus individuals who have sought shelter in their schools for approximately 12 days.
The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Israeli strikes had destroyed more than 22,600 residential units, adding that Israel targeted 10 health facilities and damaged 48 schools since the launch of the attack.
According to the Palestinian news agency Wafa, Israeli military personnel deployed on Tuesday evening white phosphorus munitions in the al-Karama district of Gaza, despite the international ban on using the chemical weapon in densely populated locations.
