Rabat – The UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has congratulated Morocco for winning the right to co-host the 2030 World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal, stressing that the North African country has what it takes to host a “prestigious” edition of the tournament.
In addition, the ministry congratulated King Mohammed VI, as well as Morocco’s government and people, on the “well-deserved success” in winning the tournament’s hosting rights.
The statement highlighted the UAE’s confidence that the trio will deliver a “spectacular” event to the world.
The FIFA Council announced on Wednesday the awarding of the 2030 World Cup hosting rights to the Euro-African bid, highlighting that the tournament will unite two continents in celebration of football.
Besides the official hosts, Uruguay, Paraguay, and Argentina will host one match each to mark the 100th anniversary of the first-ever World Cup which Uruguay hosted in 1930.
The 2030 World Cup will thus “unite three continents and six countries, inviting the entire world to join in the celebration of the beautiful game,” said FIFA in a statement.

The centenary celebrations will take place in the three Latin American countries a week or 10 days before the World Cup’s opening ceremony, indicated the President of the Moroccan football federation Fouzi Lekjaa.
He noted that these celebrations are a separate event unrelated to the tournament’s organization.
Starting from the 2026 World Cup, the tournament will see an expanded format, featuring 48 teams instead of 32.
The sporting event will thus include a total of 104 matches, 101 of which will be hosted by Morocco, Spain, and Portugal.
Morocco will dedicate six stadiums to host the 2030 World Cup matches, including those of Rabat, Tangier, Marrakech, Agadir, and Fez, as well as the soon-to-be-built Grand Stadium of Casablanca.
