Rabat – Spain and Portugal have expressed confidence about their ability to host a successful World Cup in 2030, along with Morocco.

The two countries celebrated FIFA’s decision to unanimously announce the joint bid between the three countries as the hosts for the global tournament in 2030.

Prime Minister of Portugal Antonio Costa said that the unanimous decision to choose the bid is a new “testament to our proven ability and experience in organizing major events.”

The prime minister also joined Morocco and Spain to express his country’s “great joy,” reiterating Rabat, Madrid, and Lisbon’s commitment to ensure a successful hosting of the global tournament.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez made similar remarks on Wednesday, stressing that this opportunity will demonstrate the strength of football and the sport’s true values.

He said that Spain alongside its two co-hosts will “defend the values of equality, solidarity, and fair competition, which should accompany sports.”

Spain, Morocco, and Portugal will host 101 matches of the 2030 World Cup, while Uruguay, Paraguay, and Argentina will host three opening games between them.

Morocco’s King Mohammed VI also expressed satisfaction with the FIFA decision, describing it as an acknowledgement of Morocco’s rising status in world football.

The King also congratulated Spain and Portugal, stressing Morocco’s commitment to “working in perfect synergy” with the authorities responsible for the bid in each of the host countries.
