Rabat – Young footballer Lamine Yamal has extended his stay with FC Barcelona, committing to an extended contract until 30 June 2026.
The deal was signed Monday morning in a ceremony attended by club officials, including President Joan Laporta and Director of Sport Anderson Luis de Souza. The agreement features a buyout clause of € one billion.
“The deal ensures that the youngster will be staying at Barça, the club he has belonged to since the age of seven, when he joined from CF La Torreta,” said the Spanish club in a press release.
Reflecting on Yamal’s remarkable journey, Barcelona celebrated the young player’s growth and achievements.

The signing of the contract
Over the years, he has rapidly climbed the ranks within the youth system, establishing himself as “one of hottest properties to come out of La Masia in recent years,” said the club.
This promising trajectory culminated in a league debut against Betis on April 29, 2023, making him the youngest player ever to play in a competitive fixture for Barcelona.

The club highlighted coach Xavi Hernandez’s confidence in Yamal, gradually integrating him into the first team. During the preseason tour, he became the youngest-ever starter for FC Barcelona in a game against Cadiz.
Despite his young age, the Moroccan-Spanish player has showcased extraordinary skills on the pitch, earning in the process both global recognition and a call-up to the Spanish national team.
Born to Moroccan parents, Yamal had captured the attention of both Morocco and Spain’s national football teams. However, the young striker made the decision to represent Spain.
He received his first senior international call-up on September 1 by Spain’s coach Luis de la Fuente for the 2024 Euros qualifiers against Georgia and Cyprus.
During his senior debut on September 8 against Georgia, Yamal scored a goal in the 74th minute.
