Rabat – A series of condemnations have followed a terrorist attack that struck Turkiye’s Ankara today, leaving two policemen injured.
On Sunday, the Turkish government announced that two terrorists carried out a bomb attack in front of the Interior Ministry buildings in Ankara.
One of the terrorists died in the explosion while the other was “neutralized” by authorities.
The bomb attack came as the country’s parliament was set to open a new session, Reuters reported.
Two policemen caught slight injuries following the attack, the country’s Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya said.
“Two terrorists came with a light commercial vehicle in front of the entrance gate of the General Directorate of Security of our Ministry of Internal Affairs and carried out a bomb attack,” he said.
Authorities also announced their plan to carry out controlled explosions for “suspicious package incidents” in other parts of Ankara.
Several countries have issued statements to condemn the attack, including Egypt, which strongly denounced the terrorist act.
In a statement, the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs voiced its full solidarity with the Turkish government and the country’s people.
Cairo also expressed its rejection to all forms of terrorism and violence, warning against instability.
