Rabat – A “shocked” emoji from FC Barcelona football player Lamine Yamal was enough to anger many Moroccan fans, who were astonished about the player’s reaction to Adam Aznou’s decision to represent Morocco instead of Spain.
Aznou took to his social networks on Sunday to announce his excitement about representing Morocco.
“Very happy to be part of the Morocco national team again,” he said.
Many Moroccans welcomed Azoun’s decision to represent Morocco, but not dual national Lamine Yamal, who recently decided to choose Spain over Morocco. To the astonishment of Moroccan fans, Yamal responded to Aznou’s decision with an emoji expressing his shock and surprise at what he apparently felt was the wrong choice.
The FC Barcelona player’s now-deleted reaction generated many comments, with many suggesting that Yamal was not “really happy with Adam Azonou’s choice to represent Morocco.”
The 17-year-old, who plays as a left back and left winger for German club Bayern Munich U19, has been making the rounds for his talent, which makes him regarded as one of the “top talents within La Masia.”
He has been seen as the “best player in his position within Barca’s academy ranks,” Goal reported last year.
Many clubs have been seeking to secure the services of the young Atlas Lion, including Real Madrid and FC Barcelona.
But he chose to represent Bayern Munich, who he said “tried very hard” to sign him.
