Rabat – The Moroccan national football team for women have begun their training sessions at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Sale, as part of their preparations for the upcoming double-header against their Ugandan counterparts.
The national women’s team will face the Ugandan team in two friendly matches which will take place on December 1 and 5 in Casablanca and Rabat.
The first match is scheduled at the Pere Jego stadium in Casablanca, while the second will be played at the Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan Sports Complex in Rabat, both slated to begin at 7:00 p.m. Moroccan Time.
Under the guidance of national coach Jorge Vilda, the Atlas Lionesses have begun their training camp in a “serious and serene atmosphere,” according to some players.
As for the national team players, they are optimistic and ready to take on the challenges ahead.
“We are preparing our friendly matches as if they are official ones because we are aware of the importance of both upcoming matches and the Olympic Games qualifications,” Moroccan forward Sakina Ouzraoui told the press.
She added that they are taking their training seriously as they would for official matches, in order to improve their skills, achieve positive results, and eventually make their fans proud.
For her part, striker Yasmine Zouhir stated that there is a feeling of cohesion within the team as preparations are taking place for the next friendly match against Uganda.
“We are united and aware of what is awaiting us against Uganda. We are training intensely and getting prepared physically and mentally,” Zouhir explained.
Scheduled in anticipation of the upcoming fixtures, Vilda has drawn up a list of 31 players for this friendly double-header.
Following the Atlas Lionesses recent achievements, notably in the Women’s World Cup held in Australia and New Zealand last summer, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) released on November 14 the nominations for the CAF Women’s Ballon d’Or, highlighting five Atlas Lionesses.
Among the thirty nominees for the CAF Women’s Ballon d’Or are Fatima Tagnaout, Ghizlane Chebbak, Khadija Er-Rmichi, Anissa Lahmari, and Ibtissam Jraidi.
