Rabat – The Vice-President of the Transitional Legislative Assembly of Burkina Faso, Daouda Diallo, has stressed his country’s unwavering support for Morocco’s territorial integrity, emphasizing that “the Moroccanness of the Sahara is non-negotiable.”

Diallo made the statement today following his meeting with Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita in Rabat. He emphasized that Burkina Faso’s stance regarding the Western Sahara issue remains unchanged and steadfast.

The Burkinabe official highlighted Morocco’s autonomy plan as “the best solution” to end the Western Sahara conflict.

In addition, Diallo lauded King Mohammed VI’s proposal to launch an international initiative aimed at facilitating landlocked Sahel states’ access to the Atlantic Ocean.

The King made the proposal yesterday during his speech commemorating the 48th anniversary of the Green March. In his address, the monarch renewed his concerns about the challenges facing the Sahel region, including security threats.

“The Royal Speech underscored His Majesty the King’s concern for the landlocked countries,” Diallo said, emphasizing the importance of having access to ports to achieve economic development.

Celebrating the excellent relations between Morocco and Burkina Faso, Diallo said that his country eagerly welcomes this decision in light of the economic challenges it is currently facing.

He also acknowledged Morocco’s rapid development under the leadership of King Mohammed VI and praised Morocco’s efforts to support Burkina Faso in overcoming challenges.

In addition, the Burkinabe official lauded Morocco’s “sovereign and responsible” approach to managing the aftermath of the Al-Haouz earthquake, saying that it set a noteworthy example for Africa and the world.
