Rabat – Morocco’s National Office of Tourism (ONMT) has entered into two key five-year partnerships with British tour operator JET2 and Spanish online travel company eDreams ODIGEO during the World Travel Market (WMT) in London.
The first agreement aims to establish Morocco as a premier destination in the itineraries of the British tour operator. During the initial year of the agreement, there will be 17 weekly flights scheduled from various UK departure points. Over time, the frequency is expected to increase to 28 flights per week.
Over the past few years, Morocco has become one of the premier destinations for British tourists.
Speaking to Morocco World News in 2022, British ambassador to Morocco Simon Martin said the number of British tourists to the North African country has steadily increased since the lifting of COVID restrictions.
“The tourist industry around Marrakech in particular has been happy for that,” he said.
The second agreement with eDreams ODIGEO aims to triple current annual targets, with an annual growth rate of around 30%.
Morocco has been designated a guest of honor at this year’s edition of the travel event, which is held in London between November 6 to 8.
Morocco’s Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts and Social Economy Fatim-Zahra Ammor is leading the Moroccan delegation to the event, accompanied by ONMT Director General Adel El Fakir, and President of the National Tourism Confederation Hamid Bentaher.
ONMT’s pavilion at the event boasts a record-breaking area of 760 square meters, highlighting the popular tourist regions of Marrakech-Safi and Agadir-Souss Massa.
The WTM London is an international gathering, recognized as the world’s largest business-to-business travel exhibition, and is responsible for facilitating contracts valued at nearly MAD 35 billion.
