Rabat – Morocco’s Polytechnic University (UM6P) and BCG X, the tech build and design unit of the Boston Consulting Group (BCF), have announced the signing of an agreement aimed at tackling pressing contemporary challenges, including food security as well as climate and sustainability issues, among others.
The agreement is part of the two parties’ commitment to strengthening their partnership by promoting and empowering African tech talents, UM6P said in a statement on Monday.
The agreement is part of global initiatives seeking to develop tech talents to address growing challenges faced by regional and global businesses, the statement added, noting that these challenges cover several sectors, including global health, socio-economic development, as well as climate, and food security challenges.
According to the statement, the partnership includes scholarships, internships, and immersion opportunities for UM6P students and doctoral candidates.
Commenting on the significance of the partnership, global leader of BCG X Sylvain Duranton emphasized Africa’s potential and its transition towards becoming a major hub for future tech talents within BCG and beyond.

“This continent has the opportunity to be at the center of the technology ecosystem, and I am extremely proud that BCG X is partnering with Mohammed VI Polytechnic University to help develop the next generation of Tech experts,” Duranton argued.
Hamid Maher, who leads BCG in Morocco also expressed satisfaction with the agreement, stressing the group’s honor to “embark on this adventure with UM6P” seeking to “nurture the next generation of leaders.”
For his part, UM6P President Hicham El Habti emphasized the importance of the cooperation with the Boston Consulting Group, stressing that the objective behind the initiative is to prepare future Tech talents” and to address the challenges of regional and global businesses.
“Our combined efforts pave the way for a new generation of African leaders ready to tackle global challenges innovatively,” El Habti said, adding that the partnership also reflects UM6P’s vision to promote applied research and innovation for the benefit of Morocco and Africa.
According to the UM6P statement, collaboration with the consulting group and the university started 2017, with BCG “recruiting graduates from UM6P’s first class of the EMINES industrial management school.”
The partnership witnessed an expansion with the creation of 1337, the first coding school in Morocco, which “serves as a significant talent pool for BCG’s office in Casablanca,” the UM6P statement added, stressing that the two partners have a shared vision and commitment to promoting and fostering innovation in the technology sector.
