Rabat – The Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) is gearing up for its first “International Campus of Excellence Africa,” an event that seeks to tackle transitions marked by technological revolutions and political changes.
The event, which will take place between December 6-7, is also an extension of the university’s “international campus of excellence” program, a statement from UM6P said on Monday.
According to the press release, the program has been supported by a group of 50 Nobel prize laureates, 12 former heads of state and government, as well as nine astronauts, and six Michelen starred chefs since 2005.
The program has been also supported by 1,200 industrialists from 52 countries representing all continents, the communique added.
Outlining the purpose of the first edition, UM6P said that the event will gather together a “global circle of visionaries” who promote knowledge, science, innovation, and economic diplomacy.
The list of participants will feature Richard Roberts, Nobel Prize Laureate in Medicine, which will represent the UK.
Ouidad Bouchamaoui, 2015 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate from Tunisia, will also take part in the event along with Carlos Umana, 2017 Nobel Prize Laureate from Spain.
“The aim is to bring together generations of eminent personalities alongside young leaders to exchange and debate in a ‘safe space’ that encourages the emulation of relevant and transformative ideas,” the press release said.
Commenting on the event, UM6P President Hicham El Habti emphasized the university’s excitement to host leaders and institutions to “discuss major transitions in their broadest sense to strengthen collaboration, address challenges, in impactful ways.”
The event will also mark the signing of several agreements between the university and partners, including the Royal European Academy of Doctors and the African Women leaders Network.
The event’s agenda will also feature the participation of several academic institutions including Fullbright and Charlemagne Prize Academy.
