Rabat – Paris Saint-Germain’s (PSG) right-back Achraf Hakimi has been selected for the French Ligue 1’s mid-season Best Eleven Team, unveiled by the league on Saturday.
The Moroccan international featured alongside six of his teammates including Kylian Mbappe, Ousmane Dembele, and Lucas Hernandez in the French league’s Best XI.
So far this season, Hakimi has played 13 games for PSG, providing four assists and three goals.
In addition, he ranks fourth in PSG’s top scorers this season, behind Mbappe, Vitinha, and Randall Kolo-Muani.
Spanish coach Luis Enrique’s arrival in the French club has been beneficial for Hakimi, the Moroccan player has said.
“I benefited from his arrival thanks to the way he understands football. The way he plays is the way I like to play – always attacking,” Hakimi said in an interview prior to a Champions League game against AC Milan last month.
“I’m not just a defender, I also like to attack and help the strikers. So I’m happy that he’s here and that I can play for him,” Hakimi added.
For his part, the coach described the Atlas Lion as the “ideal player” for him and his staff, given the exceptional understanding between the two this season.
Hakimi is among the players selected by the Moroccan national team’s head coach Walid Regragui to take part in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d’Ivoire.
French daily Le Parisien reported on Saturday that PSG were still trying to secure the services of the Moroccan player for next Wednesday’s super cup Trophee des Champions against Toulouse.
