Rabat – The Arab Information Ministers Council Executive Office within the Arab League has lauded the pivotal role King Mohammed VI is playing in supporting Jerusalem and the Palestinian cause.
During a meeting in Tripoli on Sunday, the Council commended King Mohammed VI’s leadership as Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee in championing critical issues relating to Palestine.
Over the years, King Mohammed VI has constantly expressed support for the Palestinian cause and the internationally endorsed two-state solution. In 2023, under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, funds dedicated to Bayt Mal Al Quds, a Moroccan agency, reached an impressive $12.5 million milestone.
In November 2022, King Mohammed VI renewed Morocco’s “unchanging commitment” to the Palestinian cause.
“Under our aegis, the Bayt Mal Al Quds Agency is engaged in the realization of concrete projects that benefit our Maqdisi brothers in areas such as housing, health, education, and social services,” the King said in a message to the Chairman of the UN Committee.
In the message, the Moroccan monarch added that “the Arab and Muslim peoples reserve a special place in their hearts for the holy city of Al Quds in consideration of its symbolic values.”
Morocco was represented at the Sunday meeting by a delegation from the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication comprising Mustapha Amdeggar, Wadia Taouil, and Khadija Karramda.
The Executive Office, in a resolution at the meeting’s close, urged Arab media outlets to spotlight the substantial efforts undertaken by the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency, under the King’s guidance, in backing Jerusalem and the Palestinian cause.
Last Thursday, the Permanent Committee of Arab Media reaffirmed resolutions previously established during the 100th session held in Tripoli.
Morocco presently leads the current session of the Arab Information Ministers Council associated with the Arab League.
Following the start of Israel’s war on the Gaza Strip, King Mohammed VI has repeatedly called for a ceasefire to protect civilians and pave the way for a permanent solution to the conflict.
In the speech delivered at the Arab and Islamic Summit in November, King Mohammed VI called on Arab leaders and the wider international community to work together to bring about “urgent and tangible de-escalation and stop military attacks to pave the way for a permanent, verifiable ceasefire.”
He notably called for “an awakening of the conscience of the international community in order to stop the killing of human beings, and for working together, each from our respective positions, to achieve four urgent priorities.”
The priorities in question included an urgent de-escalation, ensuring the safety of civilians, the delivery of humanitarian aid, and paving the way for a political settlement of the conflict.
The death toll in Gaza and the occupied West Bank has exceeded 20,500 since Israel launched its murderous, punitive war on Gaza on October 7.
