Rabat – Morocco’s Princess Lalla Hasnaa participated in the inaugural annual high-level meeting of the “Green Education Partnership” initiative today in Dubai, during which she advocated for the integration of sustainable education as a cornerstone in the global fight against climate change.
The event, organized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in collaboration with the UAE’s Ministry of Education, was held as part of the 28th Conference of the Parties.
Upon arriving at the “House of Sustainability” in the Green Zone, Lalla Hasnaa held discussions with the UAE’s Minister of Community Development and Youth Climate Change Champion of COP28 Shamma Al Mazrui.
During the opening session of the meeting, Lalla Hasnaa, who is the President of the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection, joined discussions centered around integrating sustainable practices into educational systems worldwide.
The princess delivered an address in which she highlighted the efforts of the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection in sustainable development education.
She emphasized the Foundation’s 20-year partnership with the Ministry of National Education, Preschool, and Sports, showcasing initiatives like the “African Youth Climate Hub” and the “African Green Universities and Youth Education Network.”
After the opening session, Lalla Hasnaa visited the “Greening Education Hub,” where she received a presentation on the goals and impact of the “Partnership for Green Education” in the Emirati education system, structured around four pillars of transformative education action.

COP 28 is taking place in Dubai between November 30 and December 12. The primary aim of COP meetings is to assess progress in dealing with climate change and to negotiate and implement measures to address this global challenge.
The ongoing conference has brought together leaders, policymakers, scientists, and activists from around the world to collaborate on finding effective solutions to mitigate climate change and adapt to its impacts.
Lalla Hasnaa, who is representing King Mohammed VI at COP 28, has participated in several other activities at the event.
Earlier this week, she paid a visit to Morocco’s and the UAE’s pavilions, where she explored the two countries’ sustainability solutions.
This included the Emirati pavilion’s “Sustainable Oases,” which showcased the traditional Emirati way of life and its connection to environmental protection and traditional irrigation methods.
At the Moroccan pavilion, she explored the strategies of the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, including the National Strategy for Sustainable Development, the Low-Carbon Strategy, the Energy Strategy, and the Minerals Strategy.
