Rabat – Aeronautics company Pratt & Whitney will invest MAD 715 million ($70.8 million) on its new plant in Morocco’s Casablanca.
The group signed a land acquisition contract on Thursday for its future 12,000 square meter Moroccan plant in the Mediprac in Casablanca, Morocco’s Ministry of Industry said.
“This industrial project, considered a locomotive for the aircraft engine industry, will establish an ecosystem centered around the growth and development of local suppliers, opening up broad prospects for the development of innovative, high tech activities with anticipated positive impacts on both the economic and social levels,” the ministry said on X, formerly Twitter.
The ministry expressed satisfaction with the signing, stressing that this investment reflects the attractiveness of Morocco’s aerospace industry and the country’s human resources efficiency.
This makes Morocco “successfully developed and enhanced” under King Mohammed VI’s leadership, the ministry said.
The plant will produce components for various aircraft engine models.
Pratt & Whitney’s announcement came after the establishment of its subsidiary in Morocco on June 20.
The plant is expected to create 200 to 250 jobs once it reaches full capacity by 2030.
“We welcome Pratt & Whitney’s choice of Morocco, which is a major player in the global aerospace industry,” Minister of Industry Ryad Mezzour said.
The company’s president Maria Della Posta also expressed satisfaction with the signing, emphasizing the rapidly growing aerospace community in Casablanca.
She said that this growth ensures a pool of highly skilled workforce, a stable economic environment, and the support of the Moroccan government.
Several reports have emphasized Morocco’s leadership in the aeronautics sector.
Earlier this year in May, Forbes said Morocco is “well-positioned” to become a leader in aerospace manufacturing, maintenance, and operations.
The outlet further emphasized the Moroccan aerospace industry’s strong emergence as a promising and lucrative sector, with strong focus on aircraft maintenance services.
