Rabat – FC Barcelona is reportedly looking for an alternative to Marc-Ande Ter Stegen, who is suffering from a back injury that is causing him discomfort.
While the injury is certainly concerning for the club and the goalkeeper, finding a replacement in the short term remains the most serious issue for FC Barcelona.
According to Spanish news outlet Sport, FC Barcelona is now busy looking into all possibilities to find an alternative, including covering Ter Stegen’s absence with back-up goalie Inaki Pena and the goalkeepers it has on the bench.
Newcastle is experiencing the same situation as the injury of its goalkeeper Nick Pope is pushing the club to take a look into the winter transfer market to secure a deal with the presented alternatives.
Whether Yassine Bounou is considering a return to European football is a question that only the international player can answer, as he seems happy both financially and emotionally with Al Hilal.
Bounou has been playing outside Europe since he joined Saudi club Al Hilal for a seducing deal in the summer transfer season.
In addition to the multi-million monthly salary, he is popular in the Saudi league, with fans counting on him to make Al Hilal games more fun.
Despite his departure from Sevilla, or the Spanish league, the Atlas Lion’s name is still resonating.
Outlet Sports believes that FC Barcelona and Newcastle are looking for options that can “be expanded to goalkeepers playing outside Europe.”
“This could be the case for Bono, the former goalkeeper for Sevilla who moved to Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia,” Sport wrote.
The news outlet acknowledged that the keeper’s summer transfer was economically beneficial for Bono and to Sevilla, which “earned around 20 million euros”
According to the news outlet, the Moroccan international goalkeeper could reconsider his position if a “major European club comes calling and offers him the chance to compete for major titles, such as the Champions League or strong leagues.”
