Rabat – Israeli airstrikes in Gaza have killed prominent scientist and professor Sufyan Tayeh and his family.

“Sufian Tayeh, the President of the Islamic University, along with his family, were killed in the massacre in the Fallujah area in Jabalia, in the north of the Gaza Strip,” the Palestinian Ministry of Culture announced on their official Facebook page on Saturday.

Professor Sufian Tayeh was classified in the top 2% of the best researchers in the world in 2021.

Tayeh holds a doctoral degree in theoretical physics and applied mathematics. He was the recipient of the Abdul Hameed Shoman Award for Young Arab Scientists and numerous other scientific accolades.

He has made significant contributions to the field of studies and scientific research and is regularly published in prestigious scientific journals. In 2023, he was appointed as the UNESCO Chairholder for Physics, Astronomy, and Space Sciences in Palestine.

As Israel continues its war on the Gaza Strip, the death toll rose to over 16,000, with the majority of casualties recorded among women and children.

Al Jazeera reports indicate that after the end of the six-day truce, Israel has launched a new relentless bloody war on the Gaza Strip, targeting mostly civilian infrastructures. Israel launched over 400 attacks in the past day alone.

Over the past 24 hours, Israel’s ruthless attacks have killed more than 700 people. Benjamin Netanyahu pulled out of the ceasefire negotiations soon after the truce expired.

After the end of the truce, Israel has increased its airstrikes on residential areas, hospitals, churches, and mosques, while permitting settler assaults in Gaza and carrying out forceful arrest operations in the occupied West Bank.
