Rabat – The Palestinians death toll continues to increase alarmingly amid intensified Israeli aggression and uncertainty about a potential ceasefire.
The latest casualty figures show that Israeli occupation forces murdered over 20,258 Palestinians in Gaza, while 53,688 were injured.
In the occupied West Bank, Israeli occupation forces killed at least 303 people, and injured 3,450 others.
Victims of the Israeli aggression have not been limited to civilians only but also included UN workers, health officials, and journalists.
In a statement, the UN Development Program announced the murder of Issam Al Mughrabi, who worked with UNDP through its Programme of Assistance to the Palestinian People for 30 years.
Al Mugrabi was killed along with his wife and children in an Israeli air strike on Friday.
“The loss of Issam and his family has deeply affected us all. The UN and civilians in Gaza are not a target,” UNDP administrator Achim Steiner said.
Despite the uproar, Israeli occupation forces appear to be seeking to continue and intensify their disastrous war.
On Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed that he has seen false publications that the US has prevented Israeli occupation forces from operating in the region.
“This is not true. Israel is a sovereign state. Our decisions in the war are based on our operational considerations, and I will not elaborate on that,” he said.
Netanyahu’s claims came after the Wall Street Journal reported on Saturday that the Israeli PM was “persuaded” by US President Joe Biden not to attack Hezbollah in Lebanon out of concerns it would launch an attack on Israel similar to the one on October 7, Al Jazeera reported.
In addition to deadly raids and attacks, the occupation forces continue to conduct raids and arbitrary arrests in the occupied West Bank. They arrested at least 10 Palestinians, including a woman, in the region.
