Rabat – The Israeli Occupation Forces have claimed the lives of more than 24,000 Palestinians in Gaza since the war on defenseless civilians in the strip began on October 7.
The number of casualties includes over 10,400 children, Al Jazeera reported on Monday.
In addition, at least 61,000 Gazans have sustained injuries due to Israeli aggression, the vast majority of whom are struggling to access adequate healthcare for treatment.
Meanwhile, more than 8,000 Palestinians remain unaccounted for, presumed to be buried under the rubble of destroyed buildings.
The ongoing Israeli aggression has caused the displacement of over one million of Gaza’s population, leaving them without shelter or access to food, clean water, and medication.
Making matters worse, the vast majority of the population is facing additional challenges as winter arrives in Gaza in what is expected to be a dire season in the besieged strip.
Norwegian physician Mads Gilbert has warned of an escalating risk of deadly hypothermia among the already vulnerable population as he expressed deep concern about the impending “unbearable avalanche of human suffering.”
Gilbert underlined that the risk of hypothermia is overwhelmingly dangerous, “especially for “those who are small and those who are already starving or sick – which a large portion of the people are,” he explained.
“Hypothermia is a death trap,” he added, explaining that it weakens the body and the immune system, raising the risk of the affected individual succumbing to the cold.
As the Israeli Occupation Forces’ merciless aggression enters its 101 consecutive day, the occupation army has intensified its attacks in different governorates in Gaza, notably in the south.
According to the WAFA news agency, Israeli warplanes carried out in the early hours of Monday “intense and fierce airstrikes” targeting several areas in in Khan Yunis in the south of Gaza Strip, and in Bureij and Al-Maghazi camps in the central Strip.
These attacks come after Israel ordered Palestinians to evacuate their homes in the north, often at gunpoint, and head south to presumably “safe zones.” However, the thousands of Palestinians who followed the evacuation orders found themselves again under Israeli relentless attacks.
