Maria Sharapova Enjoys Moroccan Culture, Cuisine on New Morocco Vacation

Former Russian tennis player Maria Sharapova is vacationing in Morocco, a destination the renowned athlete has visited several times before to explore the food, culture, and traditions.

The former tennis player shared several pictures from her latest trip to Morocco.

In one of the pictures, the athlete appeared wearing a Moroccan traditional cloak in a place resembling riads, traditional Moroccan hotels, or residences known for their enclosed gardens and courtyards.

In many Moroccan cities, including Fez, Marrakech, and Rabat, several lavish hotels take the form of riads, attracting millions of tourists and celebrities seeking to explore the country’s culture and tradition.

Sharapova also shared pictures of Morocco’s traditional doors and architecture, in addition to a few other posts showing tagine dishes.

This is not the first time that Sharapova has visited Morocco.

In 2019, the famous tennis player posted a series of colorful and black-and-white pictures from her stay in Marrakech.

Renowned Moroccan photographer and designer, Hassan Hajjaj, also posted another picture of Sharapova on his Instagram account from a photoshoot with the tennis star.

In the picture, Sharapova wore a Bohemian look. She donned a scarf, a colorful caftan, baggy yellow and black polka dot pants, long colorful socks, and “charbil” (slippers).

Morocco attracts millions of tourists from around the world each year, including celebrities who enjoy the country’s rich history and cultural diversity. 

By the end of November 2023, more than 13 million tourists had visited Morocco.

The North African country is also featured in several magazines’ must-visit lists, highlighting the best destinations for tourists to explore in 2024.
