Rabat – King Mohammed VI has exchanged New Year best wishes with a group of world leaders whose countries share good diplomatic ties with Morocco.

The King notably received cards and messages of good wishes from different countries, including King Abdullah II of Jordan and his wife Queen Rania.

The Moroccan monarch also received a series of messages from UAE’s President Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, as well as the country’s Vice President Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktou.

Belgium’s King Philippe and his wife Queen Mathilde also sent their best wishes to King Mohammed VI.

President of Egypt Abdel Fattah Al Sissi, President of China Xi Jinping and Russia’s President Vladimir Putin, among several other world leaders, also extended their best wishes to the Moroccan sovereign. In their different messages, the world leaders wished the Moroccan monarch “health and happiness,” while also expressing hope for “further progress and prosperity” for Morocco.

Morocco has mobilized tens of thousands of police personnel to ensure the safety of citizens throughout New Year’s eve and New Year celebrations across the country.

The North African country deployed security forces across streets, including motards on all roads in addition to barricades in public places and highways.

The governor of Tangier’s security forces, Abdelkabir Farah, stressed that the city’s authorities have worked to implement special arrangements in line with the directives of the General Directors  of National Security and Territorial  Surveillance (DGSN-DGST).

The goal, he said, was to ensure the smooth flow of the New Year’s celebrations under optimal conditions.

The New Year holiday also marks the arrivals of many tourists, who choose the North African country as a trip destination.

Major cities like Tangier and Marrakech receive millions of tourists who are impressed with the country’s tourism and holiday assets.
