Rabat – January 14, which marks Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) second day of competitions, will see Egypt face Mozambique in their first group stage match.
The match will be played at the Felix Houphouet-Boigny stadium at 6:00 p.m. Moroccan Time.
The channel broadcasting the game is Sky Sports Football in the UK. With the Sky Go app, Sky Sports subscribers can watch the competition live online.
Placed in group B, the Egyptian national team will compete against its Ghanaian counterpart in the second group stage match on January 18, then Cape Verde on January 22.
Egypt is by far the most successful nation in the history of this continental tournament, with seven titles under their belt. In addition, it is the only country to have won three titles in a row in 2006, 2008, and 2010.
In a tournament where each African team strives to bring home the title, the Pharaohs will not think twice to bring home an eighth cup for their impressive trophy cabinet.
Egypt’s last participation in the AFCON was in 2021 in Cameroon, where they ended as runners-up against Senegal with a 2-4 score on penalty shootouts.
For Mozambique, this year’s edition marks its fifth participation, last appearing in 2010. The team has never qualified for the knockout stage.
Mozambique qualified from Group L of the 2023 AFCON qualifications as runners-up with 10 points after Senegal.
