Rabat – Today, the Moroccan national football team will compete against Tanzania in the opening match of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) being held in Cote d’Ivoire.

The two teams will convene at the Laurent Pokou Stadium in the city of San Pedro with the game kicking off at 6:00 p.m. Moroccan Time.

Moroccan and Tanzanian fans can watch the game on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Football. The live streaming will also take place on both the Sky Go website and the mobile application.

Holder of a single title in 1976 and being finalist the last time in 2004, Morocco will exert every effort to live up to the Moroccans’ expectations during the ongoing African showpiece.

The Atlas Lions’ had qualified to the quarter-finals in the last AFCON edition in 2021 when they lost to Egypt 1-2.

Coming from a stunning run in the latest World Cup as a semi-finalist, Morocco is among the favorite nations to bring home the title.

The sports prediction platform Opta Analyst has placed Morocco third on its list of nations expected to lift this year’s cup.

“Morocco (11.1%) are the Opta supercomputer’s third favorites after becoming the first African side to reach the FIFA World Cup semi-finals in 2022,” Opta Analyst stated.

Morocco’s rival for this match, Tanzania, is participating for the third time in history, initially in 1980 then in 2019, but never went out of the group stage.
