Rabat – As part of their second group stage matches, the Mauritanian national team will play against its Angolan rival during the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) organized in Cote d’Ivoire.
The face-off between the Mauritanian Al-Murabitun and Angolan Palancas Negras will take place at Bouake Stadium at 6:00 p.m. Moroccan Time. The match will be streamed live on beIN Sports Connect.
Mauritania, on their third participation in this AFCON, lost its first match against Burkina Faso 0-1. This loss ensued despite exerting every effort to prevent the opponent from scoring, their coach Amir Abdou told the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Tuesday.
The coach associated his team’s loss with the high temperature during the match, saying that their performance “dropped in the second half because of the heat and there was a lot of suffering.”
For its part, Angola held its Algerian counterpart to a 1-1 draw, with the intention to achieve an unprecedented win for the team.
“Let’s do what we haven’t done before, this is our main focus … We will see where our performance and capacity will take us to but I believe we can qualify from the group and try to win the knockout phase,” Coach Goncalves told CAF last Monday.
