According to the Spanish newspaper AS, the renewal of Brahim Diaz’s contract with Real Madrid is a done deal, with a long-term contract extending until at least 2030.
This means that only the official announcement of the agreement remains, which makes any external interest a natural thing, given the level of performance Diaz has been delivering.
AS added that Italian club Juventus have taken the lead in the pursuit of the player, alongside other clubs, but the player has made it clear that his priority is to remain at the club.
Diaz finished the season as one of the most important elements in Real Madrid’s season, as he participated as a starter in six consecutive matches and played an important role in the “false striker” position by linking the lines and supporting Vinicius Junior during Kylian Mbappe’s absence.
Brahim Diaz heads into the World Cup in high spirits, aiming to lead the Atlas Lions to a new accomplishment. After committing to represent Morocco instead of La Roja, the World Cup has become one of his primary goals on the international stage.
The newspaper also highlighted Diaz’s class performances at the last AFCON, where he finished as the tournament’s top scorer with five goals, earning a place in the Team of the Tournament. AS added that the player is fully aware of the responsibility resting on his shoulders, particularly after Morocco’s historic run at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, which has significantly raised expectations surrounding the national team.
The Moroccan national team’s World Cup opener is tonight against Brazil as part of Group C.
The group also features Haiti and Scotland.
The Atlas Lions enter the tournament after winning three friendly games before their draw with Norway, a match during which Diaz scored Morocco’s only goal.
