Mohammed VI Polytechnic University’s (UM6P) innovative T3 technology has received international recognition at the World Summit Awards (WSA), the Moroccan university announced in a statement today.
Launched in 2003, WSA is part of the UN World Summit on the Information Society.
In its statement, UM6P said that its “trust, track, and trace” (T3) technology won the WSA award in the Government and Citizen Engagement category.
“Deployed for the first time in 2023, the Physical T3 technology allows for the creation of a unique identity for each diploma,” the press release added, noting that this identity merges the digital and physical world and transforms digital transition processes into phygital evolution.
“The authenticity of the document can be verified using a phone equipped with a camera or an NFC reader,” the statement further explained.
A team co-led by Rafia El Alami and Hafid Griguer developed the technology, which seeks to improve international student mobility and enhance the digital visibility of their skills among educational institutions.
The solution notably enabled the creation of the “world’s first phygital bachelor’s degree” in partnership with the Ministry of Education,” the press release added, noting that this technology also provides institutions, recruiters, and managers with a secure process to create and manage authentication information for diplomas and phygital badges.
UM6P concluded its statement by emphasizing satisfaction with the innovative work taking place at the increasingly rated and revered university, stressing that the recognition is a “testament to UM6P’s commitment to innovation and excellence.”
In particular, the university said in its statement, this latest international recognition also marks a “significant step towards its ambition to revolutionize education and certification on a global scale.”
The award ceremony will take place from April 14-17 in Chile.
This is not the first time that UM6P has won international recognition for innovative solutions produced by the university’s researchers.
In November 2023, the prestigious Moroccan university won four gold medals in recent innovation competitions held in Germany and Korea.
