Rabat – German football club Bayern Munich issued a statement on its official website on Sunday about Moroccan international footballer Noussair Mazraoui’s health condition, saying that the player sustained a new thigh injury.
Plagued by recurring injuries, Noussair Mazraoui has barely made his comeback on the pitch, and will again be unable to play for Bayern Munich or the Moroccan national team in the upcoming games.
“FC Bayern will have to do without Noussair Mazraoui for the next few games,” the Bavarian club said of Mazraoui’s future appearances with the team.
According to an examination carried out by FC Bayern’s medical department, the Moroccan player tore a muscle fiber in the back of his left thigh during the away match against VfL Bochum.
“Noussair Mazraoui had to be taken off in the 34th minute of FC Bayern’s Bundesliga game at VfL Bochum,” the club detailed. .
The Bayern-Bochum game, which ended 3-2 in favor of Bochum, was part of the 22nd day of the Bundesliga League, wherein Munich ranks second with 50 points.
In addition, Mazraoui’s injury could prevent him from taking part in Morocco’s training camp in March, when the national team will host friendly matches against Mauritania and Angola at the Adrar stadium in the southern city of Agadir.
Mazraoui was among the players called up by the national team’s head coach Walid Regragui to take part in the recent AFCON which was hosted in Cote d’Ivoire.
Because of a previous injury, the player had to be benched for Morocco’s group stage matches and could only join the squad for the Round of 16 match against South Africa.
However, many fans and sports analysts did not find Mazraoui’s and other player’s performance as satisfying, and unfortunately Morocco saw an early exit from the continental competition.
