Rabat – Moroccan international football player Zakaria Aboukhlal has been sidelined since last September due to a knee injury, but is now starting to recover, FC Toulouse announced on Thursday on its official website.
The French club released a video on its X account, formerly Twitter, featuring the Moroccan international undergoing rehabilitation.
According to the club, Aboukhlal’s “reathletization” is a preparatory course for returning to sport after a period of rest due to injury.
The Moroccan winger was forced off the pitch after forty-minutes in his first UEFA Europa League match for Toulouse against Union Saint-Gilloise on September 21. Nevertheless, now that he has partially recovered, he expressed his joy at returning to the team.
“I am very happy to be back. I hope to join the team quickly to help the team and the club. Boys, let’s go; the cobra sends you strength,” said the Moroccan striker in the video.
Aboukhlal is among the players who took part in Morocco’s epic World Cup run in 2022 in Qatar. Morocco had, for the first time in history, achieved a very advanced level, making it to the semi-finals alongside giant football nations such as Argentina, France, and Croatia.
The man who scored against Belgium at the World Cup has left a void in the national team because of his recent injury. Aboukhlal missed the recent Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with Morocco, which saw the team produce an early exit from the competition in the Round of 16.
For now, Aboukhlal is continuing his rehabilitation while awaiting the doctor’s approval to return to the pitch.
